Georgio Farina, who chose to live in the Dominican Republic, has apparently imbibed this „double commandment of love“ expressed by Jesus from his infancy. With his lyrics he admits to his cosmopolitan faith in Jesus Christ, a faith that is clearly no competition to other credos but rather an alternative next to other beliefs.
„And FATHER, it really doesn’t matter in what verses people pray to YOU. The only thing that matters is what you demand of me. “
Obviously, Georgio Farina takes this demand seriously. In his adopted country, Georgio Farina can live out his artistic streak on a high level, whilst instantly giving back part of the proceeds to the village schools and small clinics in his adopted country”, it says in the promotion text.
Farina accompanies “Train to Heaven” with highly professionally produced soul-pop, which sometimes reminds you of Phil Collin’s solo albums.
Over and over again, the wind instruments stand out with solo parts and enthralling grooves underline the melodies. In several cases, a pinch of funk was added to the song „Angel Talk“ and a spherical sound (“Jesus in Tibet (Instrumental Version)”).
Tear jerkers like „Tears of a heartbroken Child“ are an exception.
To sum up, it is maybe not the masterpiece of the century but definitely perfect mainstream-entertainment with a meaningful content!

In seinen Texten bekennt er sich zu einem weltoffenen Christusglauben, der sich eindeutig nicht in Konkurrenz zu anderen Bekenntnissen sieht, sondern eine Sprachmöglichkeiten des Glaubens neben anderen ist.
„Und VATER, es ist auch total egal in welchen Versen die Menschen zu DIR beten, wichtig ist einzig und allein; was Du von mir verlangst.“ („Jesus in Tibet“)
Und dieses Verlangen nimmt Farina offenbar ernst. George Farina kann sich in seiner Wahlheimat, der Dominikansichen Republik, so heißt es im Promotext „auf hohem Niveau künstlerisch ausleben und gibt einen Teil der erwirtschafteten Erlöse umgehend zurück an Dorfschulen und Kleinkliniken in seiner Wahlheimat“.
Musikalisch begleitet Farina seinen Train to Heaven mit einem auf Hochglanz produzierten Soul-Pop, der gelegentlich an die mittleren Solo-Alben von Phil Collins erinnert.
Immer wieder setzen Bläsersätze Akzente und packende Grooves tragen die Melodien voran. In Einzelfällen kann auch mal eine Prise Funk („Angel Talk“) oder ein sphärischer Sound („Jesus in Tibet (Instrumental Version)“) eingebaut werden.
Ausfälle wie das stark zersäuselte „Tears of a heartbroken Child” sind die Ausnahme.
Kein Jahrhundertwerk, aber gute, hervorragend produzierte Mainstream-Unterhaltung mit inhaltlicher Substanz!
